Ex-Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore in court today, attorney provides insight

Todd Flood provides insight on key hearing

Former Michigan football head coach Sherrone Moore is back in court as his attorneys try to get the criminal case against him thrown out.

Moore was fired by the University of Michigan in December after the school found he had an inappropriate relationship with a staff member.

Hours later, prosecutors say he went to that staffer’s apartment, went in without permission and threatened to harm himself.

He now faces charges including felony home invasion, stalking and breaking and entering. But Moore’s attorneys say the arrest warrant that started the case was based on incomplete and misleading information.

They argue police never told the judge the woman was Moore’s executive assistant, and that some of the calls and messages prosecutors describe as stalking may actually have been work-related communication.

The judge agreed there may have been key omissions in the warrant request and granted Friday’s hearing to examine how investigators built the case and whether Moore’s rights were violated.

If the judge finds the warrant was improperly obtained, some or all of the charges against Moore could be dismissed. If not, the case against him would move forward.

Todd Flood from Flood Law joined Local 4 Live to get into what’s at stake in the hearing on Friday. You can watch the full interview at the beginning of this article.
