NOVI, Mich. – Water is returning to residents and businesses in Walled Lake and Novi after a massive water main break on 14 Mile Road at Verona in Oakland County, officials said. The break sent water into nearby neighborhoods, submerged vehicles and forced some evacuations.
Mike Bazzi, owner of Novi Coney Island, said the restaurant had to change how it operates while pressure was low and the advisory was in effect. He described the extra cost and effort required to keep the business running.

“Yesterday I used 15 cases of water. Today I went out and bought more,” said Bazzi.
Bazzi said workers switched to bottled water for food and drinks and limited some operations while pressure was unreliable. The restaurant never fully lost water, but lower pressure and the advisory forced staff to adapt.
“It’s more work and it’s hectic,” said Bazzi.
Bazzi said this is the third time something like this has happened in the last three years. He hopes local leaders find a long-term solution, so pipelines do not fail repeatedly.
