1 dead, trooper injured in back-to-back crashes on I-96
Impaired driver crashes into parked police cruiser, says MSP
DETROIT – Back-to-back crashes on I-96 early Sunday morning left one person dead and a Michigan State Police trooper injured.
State police said a 34-year-old driver died after hitting a tow truck on March 9 at around 3 a.m. on eastbound I-96 near Outer Drive.
While officers were investigating the crash, a suspected impaired driver rammed a parked police cruiser, injuring a trooper inside.
The trooper was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
