DETROIT – Two Detroiters are facing charges in connection with a deadly stabbing at a liquor store on the city’s west side.
It happened March 10, just before midnight, at a liquor store on Livernois Avenue.

According to authorities, 31-year-old Bernice Shaneka Chenevert got into an argument with a man inside the liquor store and gave 54-year-old Steven Lewis Hooks a broken bottle. Hooks reportedly used the bottle to stab 40-year-old Cordell Harris in the neck multiple times.
Harris was rushed to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.
On Friday, March 13, Hooks and Chenevert were both charged with first-degree murder. They were denied bond and remanded to jail.
The two are scheduled to return to court March 23.
If convicted, they face the possibility of life in prison.
