Weather: Tumbling temps, possible damaging winds and snow showers in Metro Detroit -- what to know
A 4Warn Weather Alert remains in effect due to hazardous wind gusts today (up to 50 MPH). A Wind Advisory in Southeast Michigan expires at midnight (tonight/Tuesday morning).
As winds shift direction today behind the cold front, arctic air sends temperatures tumbling from the 60s (that we hit just after midnight) into the 20s by this evening. The arctic air also brings increasing chances for lake effect snow bands and possible snow squalls this afternoon.
Snow squalls could lead to whiteout conditions for the evening commute, so exercise caution.
