DETROIT – Three people are dead, and one person is injured after a car crashed into a parked semi-truck in Detroit early Monday morning.
The crash happened on March 16 near the intersection of Temple and Cass just after 1:30 a.m.

According to Detroit police, all people involved in the crash, who are adults, were in the car at the time of the crash. The extent of the injuries for the one person who survived the crash is not known.
Authorities confirmed all four people inside the vehicle were Wayne State University students. The university is providing support and resources to members of the community.
“I join our Board of Governors in writing to you today to share that a tragic automobile accident occurred near campus last night. Our current understanding is that the accident took the lives of three Wayne State students. Another WSU student was seriously injured in the crash and is receiving treatment at a nearby hospital. We grieve with the families, friends, faculty and classmates of those who were lost, and we send our strength to the injured student and their loved ones. The Dean of Students Office is contacting the students’ families to determine their wishes moving forward. Out of respect for the families, we are not sharing additional details at this time. We are grateful to the first responders and medical professionals caring for those affected. Grief and loss impact each of us differently, and a tragedy like this can be an incredibly difficult moment for many members of our university community. Please check in with one another — especially classmates, colleagues and students who may be struggling today — and know that additional support is available for those who need it.
