TUSCOLA COUNTY, Mich. – A Michigan woman who has played Lotto 47 every week for years received a text from a family member saying a winning ticket had been sold at the market she had just visited.
So, the woman checked her ticket and discovered she had won a $3.98 million prize.

The 63-year-old Tuscola County woman, who decided to stay anonymous, matched the six Lotto 47 numbers drawn on 17-25-34-37-39-42 in the drawing on Feb. 21 to win the jackpot.
“My husband and I have been playing Lotto 47 every week for years,” the player told Michigan Lottery officials. “The day after the drawing, we got a text from a family member that said a Lotto 47 jackpot winning ticket was sold at Bryan’s Market and asked if we were the big winners. Bryan’s Market is where we happened to buy our tickets that week, but we thought the odds that we were actually the big winners were slim.”
So, she grabbed a pile of Lotto 47 tickets out of her wallet and started checking them.
“I grabbed several Lotto 47 tickets out of my wallet and started scanning them on the Michigan Lottery app,” the player said. “When I was about halfway through the pile, the screen lit up, and $3.98 million came up on the scanner. I was in complete shock. It’s the kind of feeling that makes you want to break down and cry!”
Bryan’s Market at 6002 North Lapeer Road in North Branch, which is about 40 miles northeast of Flint.
The player decided to receive her prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $2.7 million.
She told lottery officials she plans to “pay bills and live comfortably” with her prize money.
Players pay $1 per Lotto 47 play and pick six numbers from 1 to 47. The jackpot starts at $1 million and grows until someone wins.
For $1 more per play, players can add Double Play for a second chance to win up to $1.5 million in a separate nightly drawing. For another $1 per play, they can add EZMatch for instant prizes up to $500.
Lotto 47 drawings are held at 7:29 p.m. on Wednesday and Saturday.
