The Detroit Zoo has welcomed a 2-year-old Amur tiger to its Devereaux Tiger Forest habitat.
The new tiger, Darya, was born on Nov. 13, 2023, at the Saint Louis Zoo, according to zoo officials.

She was brought to the Detroit Zoo through the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Species Survival Plan, a program designed to manage and protect species by maintaining healthy, genetically diverse animal populations in human care, according to the zoo.
Darya joins fellow Amur tigers Nikolai and Ameliya at the Detroit Zoo.
Staff have described 2-year-old Darya as playful and energetic, saying she is “often among the first to explore new spaces or splash in the water.
