13-year-old boy charged for bringing gun, ammo to middle school in Inkster

INKSTER, Mich. – A 13-year-old boy from Inkster has been charged by Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy for bringing a gun into his middle school, which is a weapons-free school zone.

The incident occurred on Monday (March 23) at 11:18 a.m. at Tomlinson Middle School, located in the 26900 block of Annapolis Street, where he allegedly brought the unsecured handgun and ammunition into the school in his backpack.

Inkster police said they were dispatched to the school and took the teen into custody.

The teen has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a weapon in a weapons-free school zone.

The preliminary hearing was held on Tuesday, March 24, in the afternoon at the Juvenile Detention Facility.

The 13-year-old received a $3,000/10% bond and was ordered to have no possession of firearms or ammunition and to comply with school disciplinary action.

The pre-trial conference is scheduled for April 14, 2026, at 9 a.m., via Zoom.
