What started as Royal Oak traffic stop ended with a rollover crash and 2 OWI arrests, police say

No one was seriously injured

ROYAL OAK, Mich. – Royal Oak police pulled over a speeding driver last weekend, but before the stop was over, a second driver ran a red light, causing a rollover crash, leading to two arrests, dash cam video shows.

At around 1:15 a.m. on Sunday, March 22, officers pulled over a driver near Main Street and 13 Mile Road. They were allegedly going 53 mph in a 25 mph zone, according to police.

While officers were on scene with the first driver, a truck ran a red light and was struck by another car traveling through the intersection.

The force of the collision caused the truck to roll over.

Officers checked on everyone involved. No one was seriously injured.

Police arrested both the original driver and the truck driver on charges of operating while intoxicated.

Royal Oak police are using the incident as a reminder of the dangers of driving impaired.
