ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich. – A St. Clair Shores man said he believes someone threw chunks of concrete from an overpass onto I-94, damaging his car Sunday night.

Sean Kokenos said he was driving westbound on I-94 near the Frazho Road overpass on March 29 when he heard a loud bang and realized his vehicle had been hit.

“There was actually a rock the size of my hand stuck inside of it,” Kokenos said.

Photos show a chunk of concrete lodged in his front bumper. Another piece struck the lower portion of his windshield.

“The initial hit sounded like a gunshot. It had some force behind it,” he said.

Kokenos initially wondered whether the debris came from construction on the overpass. But when police arrived, he learned he wasn’t the only driver hit.

“As they are taking pictures, a Dodge Ram pulls up and says, ‘Someone just hit my car from the freeway,’” Kokenos said.

He said the other driver told police he saw a group of kids on the overpass. Kokenos also believes it was intentional.

Now, Kokenos is left dealing with the costly repairs and is grateful it wasn’t any worse.

“You might think that it’s having fun and all that, but someone could get hurt and you guys could ruin your own lives,” he said.

Local 4 reached out to the St. Clair Shores Police Department about the case on Tuesday and are still waiting to hear back.
