FLINT, Mich. – A police officer in Flint was shot multiple times while attempting to protect a woman from a violent offender.

It happened Tuesday, March 31, at a home on Flint’s north side. Police said the officer was injured while attempting to prevent a wanted man from assaulting his ex-girlfriend with a gun when he was shot.

The officer was taken to a hospital in critical condition, but he is improving.

The suspected gunman was taken into custody after a police chase, but authorities are still looking for a second person involved.

Police are expected to reveal more information Wednesday afternoon.
