FLINT, MI -- Water tested during the second half of 2022 in Flint was below the federal action limit for lead despite a limited number of samples coming from homes with lead service lines or lead solder in plumbing. Because of the cityโs program to replace lead and galvanized steel water service lines since the Flint water crisis, there are fewer homes with lead service lines, triggering the need to add non-residential testing sites to the sampling program. To be considered a Tier 1 site, properties must be residential and have a lead service line or lead fixtures or solder in the homeโs plumbing. In its most recent previous testing, Flintโs 90th percentile for lead was 10 ppb in the first half of 2022, 7 ppb in the second half of 2021, and 3 ppb in the first half of 2021. EGLEโs news release on Wednesday said that if only the 35 residential sites had been tested for lead, the 90th percentile calculation for Flint water would have been at 3 ppb.

FLINT, MI โ A Flint man accused of shooting another person before leading police on a chase through Genesee County is considering a plea agreement offered by prosecutors. Harper was taken into custody on March 2, 2022, following a shooting in the 2000 block of Averill Avenue in Flint. Flint police said a 44-year-old man was shot and taken to Hurley Medical Center in critical condition. Harper shot the victim from inside the vehicle as the victim walked to a doorway in the home, police said. Harper is believed to have thrown a gunโwhich was later recoveredโfrom the vehicle during the chase, state police said.

Rice, 71, of Flushing died on Monday, Jan. 30, roughly nine years after he announced his retirement as Bishopโs director. โI donโt think I ever heard a bad word about him,โ said Terry Masse, a former member of the Airport Authority who also owned Masse Aviation, a fixed-base operator at Bishop. โHe made everybody feel important,โ said Masse, who grew to become a close friend of Rice, visiting him shortly before his death. Just three years before his arrival, the Airport Authority had been formed as a joint effort between the city of Flint, which had owned the airport, and Genesee County.

His next hearing is scheduled for Feb. 7, according to records.

Joseph Skinner III on Tuesday, Jan. 24, appeared before Genesee Circuit Judge Celeste D. Bell and pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to single counts of first-degree premeditated murder, domestic violence and two counts of felony firearm.
