Twelve hospitals in Michigan have been named among the best in the U.S. for maternity care in 2026.
Newsweek recently released the list, recognizing 460 hospitals across the country for delivering high-quality maternity care.

“As maternity care access narrows across the United States, hospitals play an increasingly critical role in ensuring safe, equitable birth outcomes,” according to Newsweek. “America’s Best Maternity Hospitals 2026, presented by Newsweek and Statista, recognizes 460 institutions delivering high-quality care amid growing challenges. These hospitals stand out for strong clinical outcomes, supportive patient experiences, and innovative approaches to advancing maternal and newborn health in both urban and rural communities.”

Methodology
The list was based on three metrics, including quality, patient experience and reputation score.
Hospitals received five ribbons if they ranked at or above the 80th percentile across all three data categories. To earn four ribbons, they needed to rank at or above the 70th percentile in each of the three categories.
