MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – The woman who pleaded no contest to charges for driving an SUV through a child’s bedroom in Center Line was sentenced on Wednesday.

Caris Adell Wade pleaded no contest in March to charges of reckless driving causing serious injury and failure to stop at the scene of a crash. Her drunk driving charge was dismissed, as part of a plea deal.

The crash happened at about 3 a.m. on Oct. 13, 2025, at a Center Line home near 10 Mile Road and Van Dyke Avenue.

A 9-year-old girl, who was sleeping at the time, was thrown from her bedroom and into the yard, suffering multiple serious injuries.

Police said the SUV missed hitting a 22-month-old baby girl in the home by four feet.

According to police, Wade crashed the SUV and ran off on foot, but she was taken into custody shortly after by a nearby Warren police officer.

On April 29, she was sentenced to 290 days in jail and three years’ probation. She was also ordered not to contact the victim or the victim’s family.
