OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – A Boil Water Advisory was issued Wednesday for an area in the northwest part of Rochester Hills and southwest Oakland Township following a drop in water pressure levels.
The Great Lakes Water Authority was investigating a possible leak that caused water pressure to drop on May 6 at around 11 a.m.

Rochester Hills city officials said that when a water system loses pressure for any significant length of time, bacterial contamination may happen and precautionary measures are recommended. The bacteria are generally not harmful and are common in the environment.
Bacteriological samples will be collected to see if the water quality meets the state drinking water standards.
What to do in a Boil Water Advisory
Do not drink water without boiling it first.
Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one minute and let it cool before using. You can also use bottled water.
Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation until the advisory is lifted.
Residents will be informed when the boil water advisory is lifted.
