Detroit sports radio host Pat Caputo dies at 67 after battle with pancreatic cancer

He built a long career covering Detroit sports across radio and print media

DETROIT – Longtime Detroit sports radio host and columnist Pat Caputo has died after a battle with cancer at the age of 67.

In a post on social media on Thursday (May 7), Caputo’s family said he died following a diagnosis of stage 4 pancreatic cancer revealed earlier this year.

Caputo was widely known for his work on 97.1 The Ticket, where he hosted and contributed to multiple sports talk programs over the years.

He built a long career covering Detroit sports across radio and print media.

Caputo announced in January that he had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

His radio partner and show co-host, Dennis Fithian, took to Facebook to speak about Caputo.
