“When you tell us to put out the food, we put it out,” Elaine Jones was excited to show off all the donations to a fellow letter carriers.
Today is Stamp Out Hunger, a nationwide food drive to help those in need.

“We got dried goods, canned goods and I see the neighbors have put out a lot, we appreciate you,” Elaine told Danielle Dill. Dill has walked this Redford neighborhood for nearly a decade.
While she’s usually dropping off mail, today she’s collecting donations.
“I’m seeing bags here, everyone is donating, I have a great route and will be collecting a lot of food today!” Danielle said.
Since the early 90s, the National Association of Letter Carriers has hosted this nationwide food drive.
And since 2010, Gleaners and neighboring agencies have given out more than 15 million pounds of food.
“I was one of those people that relied on help, it makes me feel good to give back, I’ll sleep tomorrow,” Danielle said.
“This is a crucial time that the food banks, they don’t have money in the summer time for kids who can’t get free food at school. So it helps us restock the food bank,” Elaine added.
Elaine has been rallying her neighbors to donate.
She’s spent most of her career as a US postal worker, participating in the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.
“We’re going to be successful because I trust my letter carrier!” Elaine said excitedly.
