Dozens of officers digging for missing persons at park on Detroit’s east side

DETROIT – Dozens of law enforcement officials are digging for missing persons at a park on Detroit’s east side.

Local 4 cameras captured video of the dig, starting around 9 a.m. May 12, 2026, at Pingree Park, which is at Forest Avenue and Iroquois Street on Detroit’s east side.

This is part of Operation United Block -- a joint operation involving the Detroit Police Department and other law enforcement agencies.

Operation United Block has included some previous digs, and there will be more in the future. This initiative between local, state, and federal authorities is a search for missing persons, but not any single missing person in particular.

Firetrucks, emergency vehicles, and a backhoe are at the park near a command center.
