A two-car crash has closed all but one lane on westbound I-96 and Outer Drive Thursday morning. (WDIV)
One person was hospitalized following an early morning crash Thursday on Westbound I-96 near Outer Drive.
Emergency personnel responded to the crash site around 6 a.m. after receiving reports of a serious crash where the local and express lanes merge.

According to Michigan State Police, a driver stopped their vehicle in the gore area of the roadway due to a flat tire. An individual who exited the vehicle to assess the situation was reportedly struck by another vehicle, sustaining serious injuries. The individual was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Michigan State Police is expected to be on site for the next few hours while the investigation continues, and drivers are encouraged to seek an alternate route as all but the far right lane remains closed.
