LAPEER COUNTY, Mich. – A large fire at a recycling facility near Imlay City sent thick black smoke billowing into the sky as firefighters worked for hours to contain the blaze.
The fire broke out shortly after 6 p.m. on Thursday (June 4) at a business in Lapeer County that handles recyclable materials, including wood pallets, cardboard, and plastics.
When Sky 4 arrived over the scene, fire crews from multiple departments were still battling heavy flames.
Aerial footage showed extensive damage across the property, with the facility appearing to be a total loss.
Several semi-trucks parked at the site also appeared to have sustained significant fire damage.
Authorities have not released information about any injuries, and it remains unclear whether anyone was inside the facility when the fire started.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Firefighters remained on scene Thursday night, working to extinguish hot spots and prevent the fire from spreading to nearby areas.
