This is technically a little off from astronomical fall, which starts on the Autumnal equinox at 2:19pm on Monday September 22nd.

Fall weather temp outlook for Michigan

The outlook is pointing towards another stretch of above normal temperatures for us here in southeast Michigan.

We are technically classified under an area with a 40-50% chance to see above normal temperatures. While this doesn’t seem like a great chance, it does point towards us seeing a warmer than normal stretch during these three months.

It’s worth adding though that this certainly does not mean that every day will be warm.

We will almost certainly have our fair share of cool and even cold days, but on the whole we are expected to see above normal temperatures over this long stretch.

This is also a time of the year that we go from warm to cool pretty quickly. The normal high on September 1st is 79 degrees, but it drops to 42 degrees by November 30th.

As for precipitation, there’s no strong signal either way according to the outlook.

So with that, we can say we’re expecting near normal precipitation. Normally over these months, we see 3.22” of precipitation in September, 2.53” in October, and 2.57” in November.

Climatology speaking, we also normally see 1.9” of snow in the month of November. This outlook from the Climate Prediction Center doesn’t point towards rain or snow, but rather precipitation as a whole.
