Friday (May 27) will have sunshine, warmth, and a chance of wet or stormy weather. After it becomes dryer overnight, the holiday weekend will be virtually rain-free and sun-filled. Also, it becomes hotter, providing some of the best memorial day weekend weather we’ve seen in a while.

The weather scenario is playing out exactly as expected, with light rain moving through well ahead of an approaching warm front. We’ll get a few hour breaks later this afternoon into the early evening, and then the front will cross the area, with some showers and thunderstorms possible later in the evening. The warmer, more humid air mass behind the front will keep temperatures from dropping below the mid-60s (18 degrees Celsius) by dawn. East winds ahead of the front will shift to the south after it passes by, at 8 to 12 mph.

Most of us will remain dry, but those south of 8 Mile Road may want to monitor the Local4Casters weather app’s real-time radar if you have outdoor plans early this evening.
