ROMULUS, Mich. – Romulus police have cleared a vehicle they were looking for in connection to a shooting this past Thursday which injured a 13-year-old boy.
The teen was in a car with family members -- a 14-year-old boy, 15-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy, who was driving. They told police someone in what they believe to be a silver Ford Fiesta opened fire on them on the entrance ramp to westbound I-94 near the Burger King on Wayne Road.

At least one of the bullets struck their vehicle and went through the back seat. It bruised the 13-year-old boy, who was sitting in the back seat. The other three teens were OK.
Police were looking for the vehicle shown on surveillance video and its driver. On Monday, Romulus police said the vehicle and its driver were located. They interviewed the driver and decided the vehicle and the driver are cleared from any involvement in this shooting.
Teens say motive unknown
The teens said they have no idea why someone decided to open fire on them that night. They were just leaving a nearby pizza place when it happened.
"The first shot I felt something hit me like a spike," the 13-year-old said. "It hurt real bad."
He said his cousins and brother weren't sure what to make of the incident, and his 17-year-old cousin had to take the lead.
"After he heard me say, 'Ow,' he checked on me and we just knew that some guy had shot us," the 13-year-old said. "But we hurried up and turned back, but we were also still afraid."
Police did not offer a description of a suspect.
