Roosevelt High School teacher suspended after text exchange with student

Inappropriate texts exchanged between teacher and student

WYANDOTTE, Mich. – A bombshell was dropped on Roosevelt High School in Wyandotte when the principal learned a teacher had been sending inappropriate text messages to a student.

"I was shocked," Wyandotte Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Catherine Cost said. "That was alarming. We delved in to find out more."

After someone came forward to the Roosevelt High School principal with the information, Cost and other administrators found that a teacher had engaged in inappropriate text messages with a student.

Local 4 has confirmed the teacher is a woman.

The district won't say how long she's been teaching at Roosevelt High School.

"We received information regarding an alleged, unprofessional text exchange between a student and a teacher," Cost said Tuesday in a letter to parents. "As you can imagine, this was difficult to even comprehend."

The teacher has been suspended with pay as the investigation continues. The district attorney is involved.
