ROYAL OAK TOWNSHIP, Mich. - The Royal Inn Motel in Royal Oak Township was condemned Thursday due to ordinance violations.
The township said the motel on 8 Mile Road is being condemned for a lack of maintenance and livability standards, and additional violations.
The building has not been maintained to minimum code and there are 17 fire code violations and 33 building code violations, the township said.
The Oakland County Health Department is assessing the situation.
Residents must move out of the motel by Sept. 6.
Assistance is being provided to residents as they move. They will be provided with help relocating, food and health screenings Friday.
