CANTON, Mich. – Police responded just after 2 p.m. Tuesday to several emergency calls regarding shots fired in the Crossing at Canton apartment complex on Joy Road.
Authorities say that officers arrived on the scene, put the complex on lockdown and began a full investigation. The Plymouth-Canton Community School District was notified, then dismissed students as a precautionary measure. Buses have kept their normal routes.

The lockdown was lifted at about 3 p.m. after police searched and secured the complex, but officers remain on the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
