Susan G. Komen 3 Day kicks off

60-mile walk to raise money to fight breast cancer

The Susan G Komen 3 Day starts this morning in Commerce Township.

It's a 60-mile walk through Metro Detroit to raise money to fight breast cancer.

Participants raise a minimum of $2,300 and walk an average of 20 miles a day for three consecutive days, all while educating tens of thousands of people about breast health with every step.

Events like the 3-Day and Komen Race for the Cure® have helped Komen invest more than $2.8 billion to fulfill its promise to save lives and end breast cancer.

Since 2004, the Michigan 3-Day has raised more than $56 million in the fight to end breast cancer.

The 2017 Susan G. Komen Michigan 3-Day will begin on August 5 at Walled Lake Western High School on 600 Beck Road Commerce Township and travel 60 miles through the Michigan area, concluding on August 6 at the Ford World Headquarters on One America Drive in Dearborn.

You can support walkers at official Cheering Stations along the route. More information on these locations can be found at The3Day.org.
