DETROIT, Mich. – Concept art, props, costumes, and more from the first seven movies in the "Star Wars" saga are to be shown at the Detroit Institute of Arts this spring and summer.
“Star Wars and the Power of Costume” starts May 20 and runs to Sept. 30, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process behind some of the most iconic characters of the popular franchise. In addition to the costumes and props, several videos are included in the exhibit, providing more of an in-depth look at the techniques used to bring the concepts into reality.

The exhibit was developed by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service with the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, with Lucasfilm Ltd. Articles within the exhibition are on loan from the Archives of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art.
