Investigators said Arnold believed the victims were responsible for the theft of more than $200,000 worth of personal property from an Airbnb rental he was using in the Tampa Bay area.

Prosecutors said their investigation found no evidence linking the victims to the reported theft.

Authorities further allege the robbery and kidnapping plot was organized just hours after Arnold reported the missing items to police.
