Video shows aftermath of speeding Maserati crash in Bloomfield Township

Gregory Belkin heard laughing

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich.A man was driving 144 mph down Square Lake Road near Lahser Road in Bloomfield Township in January when he plowed into a 53-year-old mother of three who was driving home from work.

Gregory Belkin, 43, who was speeding in his Maserati, walked away from the crash, while Rhonda Williams, who was behind the wheel of the Subaru he hit, died. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police video from that night shows the aftermath of the crash. In the video, Belkin can be heard nervously laughing and telling police he looked down and when he looked up her, car wasn't moving.

Police said that's not true. Williams was driving about 54 mph, which is just above the speed limit, when Belkin slammed into her.

He has since pleaded no contest to charges of second-degree murder and operating under the influence of intoxicating liquor. Belkin will be sentenced later in September.
