DETROIT – Game 4 of the American League Championship Series has been postponed due to rain in Detroit.
The Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees will play the game at 4:07 p.m. Thursday, when Game 5 originally was scheduled.
The rain delay started as a preemptive measure as a cold front moved into the area. The threat of rain, not rain itself, ultimately caused the game's postponement. The MLB called it "the forecast for inclement weather."
Tickets for Game 4, marked "ALCS Home Game #2," will be valid for Thursday's rescheduled time. Game 5 will be played Friday, if necessary.
The Tigers are trying to return to the World Series for the first time since 2006. They took a three-game lead over the Yankees with a 2-1 win at Comerica Park.
ClickOnDetroit.com will have inning-by-inning updates throughout Game 4.
