Ski, snowboarding resorts in Southeastern Michigan start-up season

Mount Holly, Alpine Valley, Pine Knob, Mount Brighton open for business

DETROIT – After the last few nights of chilly weather, ski resorts in Southeast Michigan are poised to start the 2012/2013 ski season.

Several local facilities announced they are open for business on Wednesday, some resorts are offering opening day discounts.

Mount Holly says they are open for business as of 12 noon Wednesday, Nov 28th.

The resort, located just off of I-75 in Groveland Township near Holly, reports that four runs and one lift are open.

Alpine Valley, located on Highland Road in White Lake, is also opening Wednesday after 3 p.m.

They are offering an opening day special of $20 for a lift ticket and rentals are also $20.

Alpine reports two lifts and two runs are open with a 19 inch base of snow in place.

Pine Knob on Sashabaw Road in Clarkston is opening after 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

They report up to a 12 inch base with five runs and two lifts open.

Lift tickets are also $20 during opening season.

Mount Brighton Ski Area is open and reporting three trails are in use.

They have a snow base of 14-16 inches.

The resort is located on Bauer Road in Brighton.
