DETROIT – The Detroit Tigers selected right-handed pitcher Beau Burrows with the 22nd overall pick in the first round of the 2015 MLB draft Monday night.
Burrows is a high school pitcher out of Weatherford, Texas. He pitched for Weatherford High School and is known for throwing an upper 90s fastball.

The 18-year-old is listed at 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 200 pounds.
With their second pick, No. 34 overall, the Tigers drafted Christin Stewart, an outfielder from the University of Tennessee.
Stewart hit .311 with 15 home runs and 47 RBI in 177 at-bats in 2015. He posted a career on-base percentage of .414 and knocked in a total of 113 runs in three college seasons.
The No. 34 compensatory pick came from the Washington Nationals. The Tigers got that pick when the Nats signed Max Scherzer during the offseason.
Nick Plummer, center fielder from Brother Rice High School, was taken in the first round by the St. Louis Cardinals. The Bloomfield Hills, Michigan native was selected 23rd overall. He is the first Michigan high school player drafted in the first round since 1997.
