Former Detroit Red Wings announcer Dave Strader dies after battling cancer

DETROIT – Former Detroit Red Wings announcer Dave Strader has passed away after battling a rare cancer.

The Dallas Stars announced the sad news on Sunday.

Strader called games for the Red Wings along side Mickey Redmond from 1985 to 1996. 

A 36-year veteran in broadcasting, Strader joined the TV and radio simulcast with the Stars last season. He has also worked for the NBC Sports Network and served stints with Florida, Arizona and Detroit in the NHL.
