Jobe was placed on the 15-day injured list with a flexor strain in his elbow on May 28.
He was initially diagnosed with a Grade 1 strain before Wednesday’s surgery decision.
Jobe, who finished the season with a 4-1 record, had 39 strikeouts and a 4.22 earned run average across 49 innings in his 10 starts.
The Tigers selected Jobe third overall in the 2021 Major League Baseball draft.
Jobe entered the season with high hopes, as many had picked him to win the American League Rookie of the Year award.
