Detroit Tigers top prospect Jackson Jobe out for season following Tommy John surgery announcement

Jobe was placed on the 15-day injured list with a flexor strain in his elbow on May 28

DETROITDetroit Tigers top prospect Jackson Jobe is out for the remainder of the season after it was announced that he will undergo Tommy John surgery.

The 22-year-old will not only miss the remainder of the 2025 season for the first-place Tigers, but he will possibly miss the 2026 season as well.

Jobe was placed on the 15-day injured list with a flexor strain in his elbow on May 28.

He was initially diagnosed with a Grade 1 strain before Wednesday’s surgery decision.

Jobe, who finished the season with a 4-1 record, had 39 strikeouts and a 4.22 earned run average across 49 innings in his 10 starts.

The Tigers selected Jobe third overall in the 2021 Major League Baseball draft.

Jobe entered the season with high hopes, as many had picked him to win the American League Rookie of the Year award.

Detroit’s pitching rotation includes Jack Flaherty, Keider Montero, Casey Mize, Sawyer Gipson-Long, and the Tiger King Tariq Skubal.
