DETROIT – The Detroit Tigers took down the Washington Nationals during Game 1 of a doubleheader 11-2 to improve to 54-32 (24-18 away) on the season.

But the big news on Wednesday (July 2) was that the Tigers will be the first Sunday Night Baseball game out of the MLB All-Star break.

According to ESPN, the Tigers will face the Texas Rangers in a three-game series, but they will return under the lights on July 20, 2025, at Globe Life Field.

First pitch is slated for 7 p.m.

With the best record in the American League, the Tigers are making a statement to the baseball world as they are also tied with the best record in the majors alongside the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Tigers were previously on Sunday Night Baseball when Triple Crown winner Tarik Skubal shut down the Minnesota Twins inside Comerica Park.

Skubal struck out 13 in seven innings while winning his 10th straight decision as the Tigers took Game 3 3-0.

There is no news on who will be on the mound, but Karl Ravech, the voice of Sunday Night Baseball, will call the action with analyst Eduardo Pérez, analyst and five-time World Series Champion David Cone, and reporter Buster Olney.
