DETROIT – Even though she’s married to the head coach of the Detroit Lions, Holly Campbell is a private person. But her newfound Instagram fame means people expect, at the very least, weekly victory lions and coffee runs.
Holly, the wife of Dan Campbell, sat down with Local 4’s Karen Drew to talk about the Lions, her husband, and her life in Detroit.
One of the ways her life has changed since he became a head coach is a growing following on social media.
She said she’s always been a private person, but others were so interested when she posted on Instagram that she decided to lean into it a little bit.
“Sometimes I am kind of, like, ‘Whoa, is this really what I want?’” Holly said. “But everybody is so nice, and it’s been so much fun. The reason it probably feels authentic is I don’t post anything that I wouldn’t have posted before, when I was private.”
She said she remembered a photo of her and Dan kissing on the sideline that garnered a lot of attention, and she also referenced her victory posts.
“Really what people like the most is when we win, I post the lion -- and they need the lion,” Holly said. “Like, I get like, ‘Where’s the lion? I can’t go to bed without the lion.’”
Her coffee runs are also a big hit.
“Heaven forbid there’s a morning where we can’t do the coffee run,” she said. “I still get coffee, but it’s like, (if) we couldn’t do the run, I have to figure out a way.”
She said the victory lion and the coffee runs are the two posts that people look for on a regular basis.
“The other things people really like, but if I don’t do those, it’s -- people are going to notice,” she said.
Dan has never told Holly not to post something, but she said she tries to be aware of how much he’s being asked about it.
“Like, I did kind of pause before I did the beanbag one,” she said.
She’s referring to a video from May 2025, when the Campbells were helping their daughter on move-out date at Michigan State University.
The video shows Dan trying to stuff a massive bean bag into the trunk of a pickup truck. He even had to jump on top of it and flop around a little bit to get it to fit under the cover.
“It was something I would have definitely posted if I was private, and I was just, like, to me it was the funniest thing I’d ever seen in my life, and I’m all about -- if I can embarrass him a little bit, why not?” Holly said. “It’s my version of the kneecap speech. Let me do it my way.”
