“I fully support it,” Morton said. He added that his relationship with Campbell remains strong. “The collaboration that we have – we have great communication.” Morton noted the shift wasn’t personal. “It’s not about me; it’s about the team.”
Looking ahead to Philadelphia, Morton pointed to the challenge posed by the Eagles’ defensive front. “The rush, their front, they really get after it.”
Defense Seeks More Despite Win
Defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard said the Lions were pleased with the victory but there were still some improvements to be made.
“We should’ve played a more dominant brand of defense during [the] Commanders game,” Sheppard said. “A lot of good to take, a lot to learn from,” he said of last week.
Sheppard said the Lions did well with the run game but need to clean up the pass game.
He emphasized execution, “Being in position isn’t good enough, you’re paid to be in position, now you have got to go make those plays.”
Sheppard praised how the Lions have prepared for the upcoming Eagles matchup. “They practiced outstanding this week, attention to detail.”
Facing the Eagles, Sheppard highlighted Philadelphia’s physicality up front. He called their run game “one of the most violent units I’ve seen as far as offensive line.”
Sheppard also spoke of defensive lineman Ahmed Hassanein’s return, saying although he’s only on the practice squad for now, “His energy is contagious, he’s passionate, and he’s appreciative of opportunities.”
Injury Notes and Offensive Confidence
Special teams coordinator Dave Fipp said linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez participated in practice this week. “Anytime you get a good player back it helps the whole group, so it’ll be good.”
Wide receiver Jameson Williams said the Lions’ playmakers are ready for the test presented by Philadelphia’s defense.
“It’s a great defense but we have great playmakers on our side of the ball.”
The Lions and Eagles will face off this Sunday, Nov. 16 at 8:30 PM EST on Local 4.
