ALLEN PARK, Mich. – Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams spoke about his role this week as the team prepares to face the Dallas Cowboys, especially with teammate Amon-Ra St. Brown not practicing.
“We’re not really certain about what we’re going to do right now,” said Williams. “We just focus on what we can do and how we can attack Dallas. That’s our main thing right now.”

Williams emphasized the importance of getting the team back on track.
“We’re just putting the pieces together and looking to get back on the winning track,” Williams said.
When asked if he felt he proved anything last week, Williams was humble.
“I don’t really look into me proving people wrong. People are going to think what they want, regardless of what you do or don’t do. I just go out there and do my job the best I can,” Williams said.
What Happened
St. Brown suffered the injury during Thursday’s loss to the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving Day while blocking for running back Jahmyr Gibbs in the first quarter.
During the play, two offensive linemen rolled up on his ankle.
St. Brown was targeted only once and did not make a catch in his limited time on the field.
The All-Pro wide receiver suffered a low ankle sprain, and according to reports, St. Brown could return to the lineup “sooner than later.”
Head coach Dan Campbell spoke about St. Brown during his appearance on the Costa and Jansen show on 97.1 The Ticket on Monday (Dec. 1) and was very cautious in his response.
No. 1 receiver
Once St. Brown went down to injury, Williams was able to fill those shoes as the top dog on the outside as he brought in seven receptions for 144 yards and one touchdown in the Thanksgiving Day loss to the Packers, falling 31-24.

Williams clarified that his role hasn’t changed dramatically in terms of route running.
“I run a lot of the same routes as everybody else on this team. People say I just go deep, but I run the same routes as everyone else, just different concepts and position,” Williams said.
Williams described his mindset when he gets the ball: “If I got space, there’s a 99.999% chance I score. If not, I try to make a move and go score. My mindset on catching it is scoring.”
He also talked about his understanding of defenses.
“I kind of know where defenders are when I catch the ball, so I try to attack the soft spots in zones and play against man coverage.”
Team urgency following loss
Regarding the team’s urgency after a recent loss, Williams said, “It’s the same. We treat every game the same, but now we’ve got more urgency to win these last games, win out the season, get in the playoffs, and do our thing.”
Cowboys matchup
Williams acknowledged the challenge of facing the Cowboys’ secondary, including the return of standout player Trevon Diggs.
“He’s a great player, a ball hawk. I love his game. But right now, I’m focused on us and how we can come out on top,” Williams said.
On a personal note, Williams took responsibility for a dropped pass on a crucial fourth down last week.
“That’s a drop. No matter where the ball is, as a receiver, you’ve got to make plays. The blame doesn’t go on the quarterback. It’s my fault because I dropped the ball. He gave me the opportunity, and I just have to make the best of it,” Williams said.
Williams described the emotional impact of that play.
“It was a big play to me. No matter what happened before, you just have to look at the play right now and make the best of it,” Williams said.
