DETROIT – The Detroit Pistons have the best record in the Eastern Conference, and with the surge of All-Star guard Cade Cunningham, they could potentially get better.
The National Basketball Association’s trade deadline is less than two months away, but according to ESPN Senior NBA Insider Shams Charania, future Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame big man Anthony Davis has been linked to the Pistons as a possible suitor.

Davis is averaging nearly 20 points per game while leading the Dallas Mavericks in scoring early in the 2025 season.
He has a championship pedigree as he, alongside LeBron James, led the Los Angeles Lakers to their 17th NBA title during the bubble.
The Pistons are 19-5 on the young season and recently tied a franchise record 13-game winning streak to jump out on the Eastern Conference.
Davis, who is a 10-time All-Star, spent his entire career in the Western Conference, so a trip to the East would push a team like Detroit to the top of the conference.
The 32-year-old is under contract until the 2026 season, but he becomes eligible for a four-year, $275 million max extension on Aug. 6.
With the extension, Davis could earn $76 million by his 37th birthday.
Without the extension, Davis would be a free agent in 2027 if he declines his $62.8 million player option that offseason.
There have been no rumors about who the Pistons might give up in a trade, but they do have a $14.1 million trade exception to make room for the caliber of play Davis brings.
