DETROIT – The Detroit Lions are expected to hire Drew Petzing as their new offensive coordinator, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Petzing, 38, has spent the last three seasons as the offensive coordinator for the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals have ranked in the middle or bottom half of the NFL in points and yards per game each of those seasons.

Petzing has coached quarterbacks, tight ends, and wide receivers at various points in his NFL career.

The Lions moved on from John Morton after one season. Morton lost play-calling duties to head coach Dan Campbell midway through the year, though the offensive line struggles were likely more to blame.

The injury to star tight end Sam LaPorta also hurt the Lions, who missed his blocking and his reliability on third and fourth down pass plays.

Detroit is hoping to get back to the postseason in 2026 after missing out for the first time in three years.
