Detroit Tigers-Twins game postponed briefly due to inclement weather

DETROIT – The game between the Detroit Tigers and Minnesota Twins was delayed due to inclement weather at Comerica Park.

First pitch, originally scheduled for 6:40 p.m., was pushed back after heavy rain and hail moved through the area.

Wednesday night’s (June 9) game is now expected to begin at approximately 7:55 p.m., pending weather conditions.

Updates are expected to continue as conditions change.

The matchup is Game 2 of a three-game series after Detroit opened the homestand with a 10-4 win on Tuesday.

Dillon Dingler powered the Tigers’ offense with two home runs among his four hits, driving in four runs.

Dingler hit a solo homer in the first inning and a three-run shot in the sixth, raising his team-leading total to 16.

Kerry Carpenter added a go-ahead two-run home run in the fifth, and Riley Greene also homered and drove in two runs as the Tigers and Twins combined for eight home runs.

Gleyber Torres drove in two runs with a single.

Troy Melton (3-0) earned the win for Detroit, allowing eight hits and four runs over five innings while striking out five.
