ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Michigan football wide receiver Grant Perry has apparently returned to practice amid an ongoing sexual assault case, according to head coach Jim Harbaugh.

Harbaugh revealed Friday that the suspended wideout had returned to workouts. Michigan had previously said Perry wouldn't be allowed back with the team until the charges were resolved.

Perry is charged with fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct, felony resisting and obstructing police and minor in possession of alcohol after an Oct. 15 incident at a bar in East Lansing.

Perry is accused of sexually assaulting a woman while standing in line outside Lou & Harry's. When police arrived at the bar, officers said Perry tried to run away and allegedly resisted arrest. He was allegedly drunk at the time.

During the chase and arrest, a police officer suffered a hand injury.

Perry was suspended for two games during the 2016 season, but then returned to the field.

The investigation into exactly what happened outside the bar has been going on since Oct. 15. East Lansing police asked if anyone in the community had seen what happened without revealing that a Michigan football player was involved.

Whoever came forward in connection to the incident provided enough information to allow police to bring charges against Perry, police said.

Perry turned himself in and was arraigned Dec. 21 in East Lansing District Court. He was released on a personal recognizance bond.

In two seasons with the Wolverines, Perry has caught 27 passes for 311 yards and two touchdowns. The 2016 season was his best college year, as he caught 13 passes for 183 yards despite playing in only nine games.

Michigan lost starting wide receivers Amara Darboh and Jehu Chesson to graduation this offseason, along with elite tight end target Jake Butt.

Fortunately for Jim Harbaugh's team, they recruited several talented wide receivers last season, including Eddie McDoom, Kekoa Crawford and Nate Johnson. More help is on the way in the 2017 recruiting class, as budding stars Donovan Peoples-Jones and Tarik Black figure to play major roles in the offense as true freshmen.
