NIL deals put just a few bucks in most athletes' pockets
Texas offensive lineman Christian Jones remembers walking up to Bijan Robinson not long ago and asking for a lift, figuring it was least the All-American running back could do for one of the big guys doing all the blocking. “For sure, you have the haves and the have-nots,” said Jake Brandon, who founded a NIL collective at BYU to help put some extra money in the pockets of Cougar athletes. According to the NIL platform INFLCR, the average transaction involving a college football player is $3,396, while a similar platform called Athliance puts it at $3,391.news.yahoo.com

Big Ten picks: MLive’s predictions for Michigan-Ohio State, Michigan State-Penn State
It’s rivalry week across the country and in the state of Michigan, with Michigan playing Ohio State and Michigan State and Penn State battling for the Land Grant Trophy. Harbaugh’s team is much better equipped to play with Ohio State this year, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to win. The Buckeyes led 49-0 at halftime, and went on to win 56-7.David Petkiewicz, cleveland.comPENN STATE at MICHIGAN STATEWenzel’s pick: Kenneth Walker III is nursing an ankle injury and Michigan State may be without its top two receivers in Jayden Reed and Jalen Nailor. Then there’s Penn State, which ranks fourth in the nation in scoring defense and has a veteran quarterback in Sean Clifford and Jahan Dotson, one of the nation’s top receivers, who will be difficult for Michigan State to cover. This time Michigan faced real adversity, and didn’t flinch
— Maybe Jim Harbaugh was on to something last week when he declared that his Michigan football team doesn’t flinch. Michigan squandered a 13-0 halftime lead and watched as the Cornhuskers scored 22 points in the third quarter alone. Not only did ninth-ranked Michigan have to deal with falling behind, but having to respond twice as part of a back-and-forth fourth quarter. Hawkins jumped on it, giving Michigan favorable field position and chance to win the game. This time it came in front of a raucous crowd of 87,380, facing real, tangible adversity for the first time all season.mlive.com
Inside the strip fumble that helped Michigan beat Nebraska
— The emphasis all week in practice for the Michigan football team centered around Adrian Martinez. The dual-threat Nebraska quarterback posed plenty of challenges for a surging Wolverines defense — with his arm, his legs and play-making ability. “In practice all week, every single day, we practiced punching at the ball,” said Hawkins, who had five tackles and one for a loss. Both turnovers resulted in scoring drives for the Wolverines, a pair of field goals that proved to be the difference. Thanks to Hawkins and his turnover-forcing play, an “incredible play” head coach Jim Harbaugh would later say, they weren’t able to get another.mlive.com
