Lions sign DE Will Clarke and release OG Caleb Benenoch
ALLEN PARK, Mich. The Detroit Lions have signed defensive end Will Clarke, adding much-needed depth at the position. Clarke, who has seven career sacks in 53 NFL games, joined the team for practice on Sunday. The Lions released guard Caleb Benenoch to clear a spot on the roster for Clarke. Clarke is the fourth defensive end on Detroit's roster, joining starters Trey Flowers, Romeo Okwara and rookie Julian Okwara. Clarke played for the St. Louis BattleHawks in the XFL last year.

Detroit Lions coach Matt Patricia showed up for work a day after his free-falling team lost again in front of an apathetic home crowd. The Lions (3-10-1) have lost seven in a row for the first time in seven years and 10 of 11 under Patricia. WHATS WORKINGThe Lions do not seem to be giving up on Patricia or their teammates. James had a season-high 31 yards receiving, and matched a season high with three receptions against Tampa Bay. Benenoch started 22 games from 2016-18 for Tampa Bay.
