It’s time to start dissecting the 2022 NFL draft with an eye toward the NFC North. The Packers missed out on the first six receivers in the draft, then made the most of the board. The Packers also got one of the better bargains of the draft in South Carolina edge defender Kingsley Enagbare. Detroit Lions and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn: Brad Holmes picked six defensive players, the most in franchise history of the seven-round era. Lions QB Jared Goff: Detroit didn’t draft a quarterback while getting Jared Goff an electric playmaker in Jameson Williams.

The Green Bay Packers moved up in the order on Day 2 of the 2022 NFL draft to take North Dakota State wide receiver Christian Watson at Pick 34. In the deal, Green Bay sent Picks 53 and 59 to the Minnesota Vikings for Pick 34. The Detroit Lions sent Picks 32, 34 and 66 for Picks 12 and 46, so that selection bounced around the NFC North. 46His addition brings a potentially high-upside receiver to Green Bay’s receiver room. Green Bay traded star wideout Davante Adams to the Raiders earlier this offseason, then watched Marquez Valdes-Scantling sign in Kansas City.

The Green Bay Packers keep tricking draft analysts and the football world into thinking they’ll draft a first-round wide receiver. Green Bay had two first-round picks on Day 1 of the 2022 NFL draft, and they came away with two Georgia defenders, which is hard to argue. They landed Georgia linebacker Quay Walker at Pick 22, then took defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt at Pick 28. That means the streak dating back to 2002 of not drafting a first-round receiver (Javon Walker) continues. The Packers shipped star receiver Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders for Picks 22 and 53 earlier this offseason.

This year’s NFL draft has the chance to be unlike any other in recent years with a possible long wait before any of the players who throw, catch or run with the ball coming off the board.
