Jets' Gore out with bruised lung, playing future uncertain
The 37-year-old New York Jets running back has a bruised lung that coach Adam Gase said Monday will keep Gore out of the season finale at New England on Sunday. It was originally called a chest injury by the team after Gore left, but tests revealed the lung contusion. Gore has played in 240 games, a record for NFL running backs, over 16 seasons. Gore signed a one-year deal worth $1.05 million with the Jets last May and will be a free agent in the offseason. With Gore sidelined for the finale, the Jets will use La'Mical Perine, Ty Johnson and Josh Adams against the Patriots.

The call was upheld by video review, and the Jets (2-13) sealed their second straight victory after an 0-13 start. Mayfield then marched the Browns downfield, and Nick Chubb's 1-yard run made it 20-10 with 2:56 left in the third quarter.

With The 3rd Pick In The NFL Draft, The Detroit Lions Select Or Trade?
Considering it barely cost Pittsburgh a second-round pick to land Bettis, this proved to be a great draft-day trade. Kansas City landed the former Cal basketball standout after making a draft-day trade that looks quite favorable in retrospect. Smith landed with the Cowboys only after Dallas pulled off a draft-day trade to secure him. It sent a third-round pick to the Steelers to move up from the 21st overall pick to the 17th overall pick. If not for a draft-day trade in 1985, though, Rice may never have become a 49ers legend.detroit.cbslocal.com
