Staal, Niederreiter lift Hurricanes past Predators 5-2
Jordan Staal scored twice and Nino Niederreiter beat Juuse Saros for the go-ahead goal early in the third period, helping the Carolina Hurricanes to a 5-2 win over the Nashville Predators in the first game of the teams' first-round playoff series.

But the Red Wings challenged for goaltender interference because Mikael Granlund’s skate had hit Bernier’s left pad, and the goal was nullified. The Red Wings recalled forward Mathias Bromé and defenseman Danny DeKeyser from the taxi squad and reassigned goaltender Kaden Fulcher to the taxi squad.
Bernier returns, Glendening has goal and 2 assists, Red Wings beat Predators
Luke Glendening had a goal and two assists, Jonathan Bernier made 21 saves and the Red Wings beat the Nashville Predators 4-2 on Saturday night. Robby Fabbri, Adam Erne and Anthony Mantha also scored to help Detroit snap a two-game losing streak and improve to 4-10-0. “We’ve played pretty good games in a row since we got embarrassed against Tampa,” Detroit coach Jeff Blashill said. The Predators beat Detroit 3-2 on Thursday night for their only victory in five games. Thomas Greiss has the other victory for the Red Wings this season.
