Our first Go 4 It event of 2026 takes us to Oakland County, where we’re hosting a book drive to help young readers.

The Go 4 It Send Some Love event in February encouraged participants to create handwritten cards and letters for seniors, active military, and foster children, including Patricia Allen, a senior recovering from surgery. Participants like Geralyn Stephens Gunn were inspired by personal stories, as she donated card supplies in memory of her late mother. Recipients such as Regina McIver appreciated the personal touch of handwritten cards, noting their rarity in the digital age. The event series will continue until 2026, with a January initiative planned in partnership with Reach Out and Read.

Local 4 is recognizing a Redford Township nonprofit and its leader for our Go 4 It awards this month. Redford Interfaith Relief provides food assistance to the community, allowing residents to choose what food they'd like and need to eat. Angela Wolf, the executive director of Redford Interfaith Relief, shares more about the nonprofit's work.

Believe it or not. Christmas is just two weeks away. We're helping Go 4 It by making sure kids and our community get to celebrate by opening new toys on Christmas morning. We've seen a great turnout of people, despite the bad weather, to drop off toys. So far, we've filled up 14 pallets. Go 4 It- Toys For Tots Toy Drive

Local 4, in collaboration with Toys for Tots and Kroger, is organizing the Go 4 It toy drive to bring holiday joy to children in Metro Detroit. The event will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2025, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Kroger store located on Fort Street in Southgate. Community members are encouraged to contribute by donating new, unwrapped toys. The initiative is supported by Henry Ford Health and the Gilbert Family Foundation, who play a crucial role in facilitating these community events.
